Diversity, Inclusion and the Values of Democracy: Building Teachers' Competences for Intercultural Education Internetwork Conference Ljubljana, Slovenia, September 28th-30th, 2009 Venue: Faculty of Education Kardeljeva ploščad 16 1000 Ljubljana February, 19. 2009 Dear participants of the conference, INTERnetwork members and others, We are pleased to invite you to the Internetwork conference titled Diversity, Inclusion and the Values of Democracy: Building Teachers' Competences for Intercultural Education The Conference is addressed to every person interested in the general subject of intercultural education. Teachers, educators, professors, researchers students, citizens, are welcome. Besides, each INTER Network Member team is invited to send one guest to the Conference. The event will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia from September 28th-30th, 2009. The INTER Network purpose is to improve quality of education and contribute to innovation in schools by assisting them in the adoption / implementation of an intercultural approach, fostering the reflection on cultural diversity and providing a scenario in which to cooperate, exchange and elaborate practical tools for initial and in-service teacher training. Teachers can make a difference in schools by transforming their own practices and ideas about education and cultural diversity. On this page, participants can find all necessary information about the event: agenda, call for proposals, information on keynote speakers, registration form and some information about Ljubljana and Slovenia. Language English will be the official language of the conference. We kindly ask members of INTERnetwok that provide translations to their language if needed. Participants The Conference is opened to every person interested in the general subject of intercultural education- preschool and primary school staff, other proffessional staff working in the field in intercultural education, parents and other interested in this topic. Countries and institutions involved in INTERnetwork are invited to send one guest to the Conference. INTERnetwork will cover the costs of 1 double room for each institution. Final deadline for registration is July, 15th, 2009. You are encouraged to submit your registration form earlier, if possible. Presentation proposals The Conference scientific commitee is soliciting presentation proposals. Entry to Slovenia- travel information: Persons wishing to enter Slovenia must have a relevant travel document. EU/EEA citizens do not need a passport to enter Slovenia, only a valid identity card. More information on wheather you need visa to enter to Slovenia, you can find here. Hotel information: INTERnetwork members Hotel Park*** is located in the green centre of Ljubljana, just a few minutes walk to all major historical monuments and sights. In the hotel lobby you can find the internet point for your free of charge use and/or WIFI access. Arrival and Departure Times Members, who will participate at General Assembly (Sunday, September 27th afternoon) are requested to arrive on Sunday, September 27th morning, other participants are kindly requested to arrive on September 27th during the day. The first conference day is Monday, September 28th. The last conference day is September 30th (Wednesday),followed by General Assembly (for INTERnetwork members).
